What is ecology? what is an ecosystem?
Ecology is the branch of biology that deals with the relations of organisms to one another and to their physical environment; such as climate, water, and soil. In addition, ecology supplies humans with information about the benefits of an ecosystem. This can then help to determine which of Earth’s resources will leave the environment healthy for posterity. Ecologists’ main goal is to understand the connections plants and animals have to the world around them.To add, ecology also contributes immensely to our understanding of evolution because all evolutionary change that takes place is due to the ecological interactions that occur in an ecosystem.
An ecosystem is all of the interactions among populations in a community. In regards to our ecosystem, which is the Academies @ Englewood, there are several relationships between abiotic and biotic factors. Firstly, there is a little pond that is the habitat for many geese and fish. They swim in the water and seem to have adapted to the different water temperatures. There are also many rocks, grass, and trees around the lake. If you look closely, you can see the different populations of bugs that hide in the grass. Moreover, there are an abundance of trees, which makes for a nice home for different kinds of birds.
