RelationshipsThere are several interactions between abiotic and biotic factors in our ecosystem. The first example is water and geese. Without the lake, the geese would not have a habitat or an adequate water source. The water provides geese with food, a drinking source, and a place to swim. The water is an abiotic factor, and since the geese are living, that makes them a biotic factor.
The second relationship in our ecosystem is the sunlight and the plants. The plants need the sun to grow because they use the light rays from the sun to make energy. This process is called photosynthesis. Without the sun, plants would not be able to give off oxygen or grow, which would harm humans and animals. The last connection in our ecosystem is the temperature and birds. The temperature of a region has a great effect on when birds are present in that specific area. The temperature in Englewood, New Jersey can range from 20 degrees Fahrenheit to 96 degrees Fahrenheit. When it’s cold, birds migrate to a more humid area and return when the cold weather has passed. |
